Johnny Rickard is a London-based development creative, renowned for crafting innovative concepts within the entertainment industry for broadcasters around the world.


His journey began with a groundbreaking idea that - in just six months - catapulted him to the finals of the prestigious MIP Formats International Pitch. Competing against over 200 production companies globally, he secured a spot in the top five with his debut quiz show concept. Johnny’s entrepreneurial spirit also led to the independent optioning of three entertainment formats, as well as securing a series of lucrative paid developments with major broadcasters.


A master of the sizzle tape, Johnny has edited high-impact reels for renowned names such as MGM Studios, BoldPrint Studios, and Drum Studios, in addition to producing multiple promotional videos for Create Central. During his tenure at BBC Studios Entertainment & Music, he edited an impressive 40+ tapes in just one year.


Johnny has worked with some of the biggest companies and shows. He has produced digital content for Channel 4.0, devised hundreds of ideas for Top Gear (BBC One), and edited high-profile content for The Eurovision Song Contest (BBC One). Additionally, he co-presented screen tests for the remarkable Hannah Waddingham.


He worked on the development of Evil Genius with Russell Kane (Sky History), The Answer Run (BBC One), Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend (BBC One), and Pete Wicks: For Dog’s Sake (U).


Johnny is also the creator and presenter of The GearKnob Channel on YouTube, a series where he engages in ‘seriously silly things with cars,’ inspired by his time on Top Gear. His channel has garnered tens of thousands of views, widespread media coverage, and a feature on ITV News.


Johnny is currently working with Curve Media as a Development Producer.
