Paul King

Director, Producer and Edit Producer

Paul King is a BAFTA, NTA and RTS award-winning comedy and entertainment director, producer and edit producer.

Having started his career in factual television on shows such as Grand Designs, Paul now specialises in creating visually driven and engaging stories with strong performances in scripted comedy and entertainment projects. Other genres of his work include Mocumentary, Animation, Archive, Behind the Scenes, Sizzles and Gameshows.

With an excellent track record of steering pilots into first series, Paul helped to create the style of the BBC’s BAFTA nominated The Mash Report for which over six series he directed and co-wrote all the sketches. Other first series and pilots include the BAFTA winning Big Zuu’s Big Eats, The Last Leg, The Unofficial Science of Home Alone, The Ronna & Beverly Show and returning series such as David Mitchell’s Outsiders, The Ranganation and Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back.

His portfolio includes content for major broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, C4, Sky, UKTV, Amazon, Netflix, NBC and AMC. His work has taken him across the globe from Africa to America where he currently holds an IVisa permit.

With a passion for short form content, Paul’s online sketches such as A Brief Guide to Being a 'Good Immigrant' have gained millions of views and alongside this he has worked on branded and commercial campaigns for Premier Inn, Vodafone, Shelter, Lidl and Plenty.

Paul has worked extensively with high profile talent, having directed Will Ferrell, Guz Khan, James Acaster, Romesh Ranganathan, Miranda Hart, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alan Carr and Greg Davies to name just a few. He has also collaborated with a variety of presenters/musicians/athletes and has a lot of experience in working with new emerging talent.

Being able to lead and support a creative team with a smile, Paul is just as happy directing a large crew, single camera or fixed rig on location, as he is working in a writer’s room, script editing or creating treatment pitches for new tv or digital projects.

Paul is currently developing several scripted shows with established comedians and is in production on an original short film with the Stanley Kubrick Estate.
