Matt Nida is an award-winning
Series, Edit, and Development Producer with two decades of experience creating memorable content across television, podcasts, radio, digital, and live events. Matt’s expertise spans entertainment, comedy, factual entertainment, documentary, arts, and branded programming.
A specialist in
genre hybrids, Matt combines journalistic depth with a sharp comedic sensibility, bringing substance to entertainment formats and a playful touch to factual programming.
As Series Producer on the BAFTA and Broadcast Award-winning
Joe Lycett vs David Beckham (Rumpus / Channel 4, 2022), Matt orchestrated the infamous money-shredding stunt that made global headlines and prompted David Beckham to break his silence on his controversial ties with Qatar. For the follow-up, the Broadcast Award-nominated
Joe Lycett vs Sewage (Rumpus / Channel 4, 2024), he led an investigative team to uncover malpractice in the water industry, resulting in a documentary hailed by
The Guardian as “a new benchmark in ‘making a point while making ’em laugh’ documentaries.”
During his nine-year tenure as showrunner on Channel 4’s
Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Matt not only steered this flagship entertainment programme but also developed and launched several spin-offs, including the Big Fat Quiz of the 90s and its iconic viral encounter between Jack
Whitehall and Mr Blobby.
He is particularly in demand for pilots and first series, with SP credits including
It’s Not Me It’s You (Channel 5),
Jo Brand’s Great Wall of Comedy (STV / Gold) and
Al Murray’s Compete For The Meat (Avalon / Dave). Other recent credits include
Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains for Paramount Plus / Comedy Central.
With
development credits spanning multiple genres, Matt brings originality and versatility to every project. At Crackit Productions, he developed and pitched a wide range of factual entertainment formats, features, and hard-hitting documentaries, while entertainment roles at Avalon, Lifted/ITV, and ITN have drawn on his skills in creating compelling game shows, unscripted comedy, and studio-based entertainment. His wealth of
editing experience—comprising hundreds of hours in the edit suite—ensures every project he touches has sharp storytelling, punchy narratives, and expertly crafted voiceovers (with good gags where appropriate).
As a
writer, Matt is a regular contributor to
Blankety Blank (Thames / BBC) and has penned scripts and jokes for some of the UK’s most celebrated comedians and performers, including Joe Lycett, Jimmy Carr, Jonathan Ross, and Al Murray.
In the live arena, Matt produced and co-wrote the hit
Town To Town national tour for
Rob Brydon, David Mitchell, and Lee Mack, as well as developing and producing two sell-out runs of
Made Up Games Live with
John Robins and Elis James at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
He previously worked with the
branded content department at Pulse Films, where he successfully developed, pitched and produced Electric Shorts, a 10-part series for Red Bull that appeared on their own platform as well as socials.
Currently, Matt is building a slate of comedian-hosted podcasts under his new
Wild Ambitions label, with several titles set to launch in early 2025.
Well-regarded for forming strong working relationships with talent, Matt is trusted by A-list names and emerging talent alike. For production staff, he creates a highly collaborative, inclusive, and creative working environment, with a particular passion for nurturing fresh voices in comedy—especially those breaking into the genre for the first time.
